The Nutrition Services Department employs about 240 staff and serves approximately 1500 patient meals and more than 5000 employee and guest meals daily.
The goal of Nutrition Services is to provide excellent care to patients and their families during their visit to Vanderbilt Medical Center.
Our teams include VUH Patient Service, Courtyard Cafe, The Vandy Cafe (Monroe Carrell Jr Children's Hospital), and we are located throughout the Medical Center campus.

JOB SUMMARY: Transports patient food and supplies to various destinations on the hospital campus. Responsibilities include: delivering and retrieving food carts, stocking and assisting with the trayline, washing and sanitizing food carts, and maintaining sanitation standards.
Delivers carts and other items to hospital floors.
Reports promptly to pick up STAT items; checks delivery rack often throughout one's shift.
Delivers and retrieves food carts at the established times.
Responds within 5 minutes to all pages.
Tows a maximum of three carts in a train.
Ensures that cart doors are latched and locked before transporting each cart.
Interacts in a positive manner with hospital personnel and visitors.
Yields elevator space to patients when necessary.
Maintains courteous behavior through communication and mannerisms to visitors and hospital personnel.
Reports confrontations to supervision immediately after the event occurred.
Adheres to tow motor safety rules.
Uses horn at intersections and blind spots.
Maintains a safe speed; yields right-of-way.
Parks a tow motor in a manner that does not block the hallway.
Walks the tow motor in and out of department.
Maintains tow motors and food carts.
Ensures tow motor operation and maintenance, including the horn, lights, and batteries, reports repair need to supervision.
Completes pre-operation check sheets prior to use of the tow motor.
Greases wheels of carts per schedule.
Maintains tow motor appearance.
Ensures food safety.
Briefly explain Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) plan, significance of critical control point (CCP) and understands what is meant by sensitive foods.
Practices safe food handling techniques to protect consumers from an unacceptable physical, chemical and/or biological health risk exposure.
