The Sr. Occupational Health Nurse provides for and delivers health and safety services to company employees. Job functions focus on promotion and restoration of health, prevention of illness and injury, and protection from occupational hazards.
Provides primary nursing care, emergency services and management of occupational and non-occupational illnesses and injuries; provides follow-up care and makes appropriate referrals as necessary; requires experience and skill in the following: audiometric testing, use of automatic external defibrillator (AED), physical assessment, and emergency care.
Conducts health hazard assessments, new hire exams, surveillance programs, and periodic exams for employee groups and workplace according to regulatory and company policy/procedure. Requires experience and skill in and audiometric testing and phlebotomy.
Utilizes and maintains updated, accurate, complete, and confidential record keeping system (e.g. employee medical files/records) according to regulatory requirements (FMLA/ADA/OSHA) and company policies/procedures
Responsible for planning, implementing and assisting with various wellness programs throughout the year for company employees which focus on health promotion and disease prevention; requires interaction with vendors and non-profit organizations; communicates employee attendance and response rate
Oversees departmental budget. Works with direct manager to develop annual budget.
Case management of occupational injuries and illnesses; instructs and directs employees to appropriate health care providers as necessary; initiates and submits necessary company paperwork/forms, enters appropriate information into departmental and company databases
Attends professional conferences/meetings and re-certification programs (e.g. AED/CPR/Audiometric, etc…) as needed
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing Science and two (2) years of experience in a clinical environment or Associates Degree in Nursing and four (4) years of experience in a clinical environment, or Licensed Practical Nurse and five (5) years of experience in a clinical environment required.
Active nursing license in the State is required (RN or LPN).
Knowledge of Worker's Compensation and Temporary Disability Benefits laws and regulations.
Certification or experience in Occupational Health Nursing, emergency room or hospital.
CPR certification desired
Certification in occupational health nursing and case management preferred
Basic computer keyboard skills, plus knowledge of Windows, Microsoft, Excel, and Access required
Demonstrated good verbal, written and communication skills
