You Will Be Responsible For:

Review and analyze the disposition of loan applications and credit documents. Gather background information on loan applicants, researching discrepancies. Pull credit reports, verify debts, estimate monthly payments for any outstanding debts not listed and add them to debts on application. Calculate debt-to-income ratios on loan applicants and calculate how much a loan applicantâ™s debt is secured or unsecured. Verify the accuracy of loan amounts and repayment terms on approved loan applications. Has authority to approve and/or deny loan requests within pre-determined parameters and policies and refers others to their Supervisor. Provide members with proper credit and formal written notice of findings in accordance with Credit Union policy guidelines and State regulations. Assist front line credit union employees with professional support and research, answering questions during the underwriting process. Cross-sell credit union products and services.
Achieves established departmental goals within defined timelines. Assists with the collection of delinquent loan accounts; preparing and mailing of delinquency notices, facilitating repossessions, and bankruptcies.
Performs the following tasks; ordering and maintenance of credit cards, monitoring and reporting of Insurance, Mechanical Breakdown Protection, GAP, and Collateral Protection programs, processing of returned credit card mail, loan file audits, and document imaging, Investigate, resolve, and administer late charge reversals, and loan disputes. Effectively identify and mitigate member lending problems, inquiries, and complaints as they arise.
Responsible for vehicle loan titles and registrations, and mortgage recordings and satisfactions. Oversees daily reports, account maintenance, card ordering, over-limit, delinquency, and fraud monitoring and account management. Prepares and reviews loan reports.
Maintain a filing system and procedures to monitor that the required documentation for each new loan account is received and maintained appropriately and according to policies and procedures.
What You Will Need:
Bachelorâ™s degree with a major in business administration, finance, management
Four (4) yearsâ™ experience in lending, or related field
Computer knowledge including Microsoft Office applications
Knowledge of Bank Secrecy Act Compliance and other laws and regulations related to the position
Ability to complete analysis, assessment/evaluation
Ability to identify and resolve conflicts and problems
Ability to interpretation policies
Ability to organize, balance figure, compute totals, verify calculations, and use analysis to arrive at an appropriate and justifiable underwriting decision
Able to multi-task
Able to prioritize job tasks
Several years' experience with underwriting
Banking and/or credit union experience
The Loan Specialist is responsible for underwriting, closing, auditing, filing, safekeeping, and servicing of the Credit Unionâ™s loan portfolio. Assists with the development of and implements best practices in loan processes and procedures. Actively participates in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
