The VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System is recruiting for a Medical Technologist - Advanced Staff Technologist. The Advanced Staff Technologist will function in the Point of Care Testing (POCT) section of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service. Responsible for all aspects of operation of Point of Care testing including preparation and maintenance of records and reports, analysis of testing methodologies, training, instrumentation and compliance. Point person for CAP organization, testing, and reporting for Wade Park, Outpatient Surgery Center, Midtown Dialysis, and 12 community-based outpatient clinics. Developing, performing, evaluating, interpreting, correlating, and validating the accuracy of laboratory procedures and results for the point of care section of the laboratory. Responsible for specialized and complex laboratory tasks beyond providing patient test results. Conducting the following: initiate parallel testing, evaluate data, implement new reagent usage and perform validation for new testing or systems. Responsible for instrument correlations and linearity testing on all Point of Care analyzers. Providing consultation services and training to health care providers throughout Wade Park, Outpatient Surgery Center, Midtown Dialysis, and 12 community-based outpatient clinics. Assessing procedures and policies to ensure compliance with laboratory and Medical Center regulatory requirements and standards. Applying laws, policies, precedents, regulatory, licensing, and accrediting requirements to establish, monitor, and maintain the specialized testing. Conducting studies and recommending changes to correct deficiencies and improve a specialty area. Assisting the Supervisor in the development and evaluation of staff competency for their area of specialty.
