The Kansas City VA Medical Center is currently recruiting for Registered Nurse (Informatics) position for our ADPCS Service Line. The Clinical Informatics Nurse is a professional nurse who demonstrates leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others. The nurse applies the nursing process and project management principals to systems or processes at the facility/unit/team/work group level to improve care and demonstrates leadership by involving others in improving care. The scope of responsibility for the Clinical Informatics Nurse includes, but is not limited to, providing orientation and training, competency assessment, assessing staff learning needs, and meeting all requirements of the assigned programs. Responsibilities also include reviewing and applying current research/evidence to educational offerings, developing and utilizing evaluative systems to determine the effectiveness of education provided, participating in developing, interpreting, evaluating, and maintaining practice standards. The Nurse is a key member for all clinical information system implementations, post-implementation reviews, optimization and adoption by clinical end users. The position is also critically important in the clinical analytics work that is increasingly required of healthcare organizations by regulatory, compliance, and payer entities. In addition to these functions, the work of the clinical informatics nurse directly impacts patient, caregiver, and provider experiences; patient engagement; clinical quality, outcomes, values and patient safety. Maintains and provides on-going support of current nursing applications. Troubleshoots errors and corrects problems. Logs, maintains, and tracks service requests. Implements and facilitates needed changes to correct system problems. Troubleshoots computers and trains staff on utilization of clinical charting and billing. Reviews and participates in Inventory Management. Develops and maintains policies and procedures pertaining to the use of information system applications utilizing staff and manager feedback. Maintains knowledge of standards of accreditation agencies and incorporates these into hospital standards.
