Position coordinates the coding quality and compliance functions of HIM coding services through complex post-review audits, data quality monitor. Position provides education and training to coders, hospital department staff and clinicians. Coordinator assists in developing and revising the Coding Data Quality/Compliance Plan. Assures that Fairview and regulatory coding guidelines and abstracting data dictionary elements are adhered to. Uses quality control techniques to validate collected information. Coordinate resolution of coding related edits. Assists manager with payroll time approval, productivity metrics and performs other duties as assigned. Assists in overall general education of the Coding staff assisting and developing presentation materials routinely

Provides guidance to physicians and administrative personnel on the appropriate use of medical record, prepares and designs narrative and graphic reports for administrative planning, outside agency requests, quality assurance activates and Medical Staff Committee use. Interacts with physicians and other hospital/corporate departments to assure compliance and appropriate billing practices.
Perform diagnostic and/or procedural coding at an advanced level to ensure proper reimbursement and accurate data base information, as necessary and to maintain skills

One of the following: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) ,Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
