Assigned to the Clarksburg West Virginia VAMC, Nursing Service, the Acute Care Assistant Nurse Manager executes position responsibility that demonstrates leadership, experience, and ingenious approaches to management of complex patient care. The Assistant Nurse Manager is accountable for assisting in the management of patient care, human, fiscal, and material resources, and the total environment of the unit on a twenty-four-hour basis. Responsibilities and duties may Include, but are not limited to: Facilitates an atmosphere of interactive management and the development of collegial relationships among nursing personnel and other team members. Promotes a climate for effective performance while allocating available resources to promote safe, efficient, effective, and quality nursing/patient care. Observes and evaluates the quality of nursing care provided including interdisciplinary patient rounds, reviewing nursing documentation in clinical records, and collecting, reviewing, and analyzing data related to the delivery of patient care. Assure the compliance with all regulatory agencies and standards of practice and implementation of required actions to meet Performance Measures. Provides leadership in the application of the nursing process to patient care, organizational processes, and systems, and improves outcomes at the program or service level. Initiates an educational plan to meet changing program or service needs for self and staff. Provides leadership in identifying and addressing ethical issues with patients and staff, including initiating, and participating in ethical consultations. Initiates interdisciplinary projects to improve organizational performance. Implements an educational plan to meet changing programs or service needs for self and others. Maintains knowledge of current techniques, trends, and professional issues. Will coach colleagues in team building. Contributes to the strategic planning process, day-to-day operations, and attainment of goals of the organization. Ability to provide direct patient care to an assigned group of patients. Maintain data collection with direction of the Nurse Manager to ensure process improvement on the unit. This Assistant Nurse Manager will report directly to the Nurse Manager of Acute Care, Patient Care Services. Work Schedule: Permanent, Full-Time. Normal workdays/hours will be Monday-Friday, 2:30am to 11:00pm PM, with workday/hours flexibility required as patient care needs require. This position has 24-hour accountability.
