Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Cellular Therapy Technologist.
In this role, the successful candidate Under the direction of the Laboratory Manager and Laboratory Medical Director, the technologist will perform duties necessary to provide support for the Blood and Marrow Transplant Program at NYU Langone Hospital. The technologist performs all processes required to produce a safe and viable product for transplant or treatment of disease.
Performs and documents daily Quality Control and routine cleaning and/or maintenance of equipment according to lab Standard Operating Procedures.
Performs complex processing including cryopreservation of hematopoietic progenitor cells, red blood cell depletions, plasma depletion, CD34 selection, cord blood processing using automated or manual techniques per laboratory Standard Operating Procedures.
Performs calculations and reports result of processing to clinical staff including attending physicians and nursing.
Performs clinical scale cell processing including isolation, culture and formulation using sterile technique and universal precautions in support of cell and gene therapy clinical trials.
Assists investigators in the development and quality control of genetically modified hematopoietic patient cells.
Performs quantitative T and B cell subset analysis and CD34 stem cell analysis.
Analyzes products for microbial growth to ensure Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) were maintained.
Uses laboratory computer system for access to lab results and to produce batch records.
Performs inventory, orders and receives reagents and supplies.
Provides rotating on-call coverage during off-hours for response to equipment failures, notification of critical lab results.
Contributes to the review and development of new procedures.
Performs other duties as requested.
Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology or Bachelor's Degree with a major in biology, chemistry or physical sciences from an accredited college or university. New York State Clinical Laboratory Science License or eligible to receive the license..
Required Licenses: Clinical Lab Technologist-NYS
Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience in a cellular therapy manufacturing.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
