Unit Director, Acute Care – Pediatrics
The Unit Director for the Pediatric Acute Care unit provides clinical, operational, and administrative leadership for the unit in partnership with the Chief Medical Officer, Pediatric Service Chief, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary teams. The role is responsible for ensuring high-quality, safe, efficient, and family-centered care while advancing operational excellence, quality improvement, education, and patient experience initiatives in alignment with the mission and strategic priorities of the Children’s Hospital and health system.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee daily clinical and operational activities of the unit in collaboration with nursing leadership.
Lead initiatives to improve patient safety, quality, throughput, operational efficiency, and patient/family experience.
Foster interdisciplinary collaboration and evidence-based, value-driven care delivery.
Monitor unit performance metrics, including length of stay, discharge efficiency, infection prevention, readmissions, and patient satisfaction.
Support staffing, resource allocation, regulatory compliance, and operational planning.
Provide supervision, mentorship, onboarding, and educational support for physicians, advanced practice providers, trainees, and interdisciplinary staff.
Represent the unit on institutional committees and leadership initiatives.

Prospective candidate
Board-certified or eligible Pediatric Hospital
Physician with a strong track record of leadership, clinical excellence, and academic achievement.
Eligible for medical licensure in New York.
