Overview
This position is responsible for compiling, verifying, maintaining, and distributing payroll related data, provides reports/spreadsheets related to payroll, systems support, and training to managers for the automated payroll process. This position also supports payroll on Workforce Management, special committees /projects. This position coordinates and processes specific legislated payroll responsibilities involving tax concerns, child support orders, tax levies and garnishments.

Responsibilities
* Maintains, updates, and tests payroll and timekeeping systems. This position creates, updates and reviews spreadsheets and reports, and troubleshoots system problems. Imports files to and exports files from applicable payroll and timekeeping systems. Maintains a strong relationship with technology partners and vendors. Stays current on payroll related system and regulatory updates. Regularly interfaces with payroll software vendor. Identifies and develops audits/query reports to ensure compliance and prevent errors related to payroll processing. * Ensures accurate tracking and timely reporting of federal and state taxes in compliance with IRS and state mandates. Calculates adjustments in multiple systems to correct taxable earnings errors, add or reduce wages, time accrual and employee deductions. Prepares and reviews year end W2 forms. * Identifies and corrects errors in pay. Calculates and corrects time records, corrects payment and deduction information, and generates manual checks as needed. Audits contracted employee time records for completeness and accuracy. Assist accounting by researching errors in the general ledger. Properly tracks, adjusts and/or refunds deductions as necessary. * Processes all garnishments, wage assignments and levies to ensure all legal requirements are met. Calculates employee exempt earnings and deduction amounts for input into the payroll system. Coordinates communication of withholding amount to employee, creditor, governmental agency or attorney. Maintains employee files and logs. * Ensures accurate placing, processing and tracking of accruals, deductions and adjustments of the PTO plan(s) in place. Develop and run queries, audit and monitor time accrual transactions. Advises Finance when adjusting entries are necessary. * Assists employees and management with the time and attendance system. Provides weekly, monthly and/or special requested reports. Provides training to time card editors requiring assistance. *Able to perform a full payroll process in the absence of the payroll manager.

Qualifications
Requires an Associate's degree in accounting, finance or related field, or equivalent knowledge and/or experience in payroll or finance. Must possess at least two (2) years of experience working with payroll systems under limited supervision.
Must possess knowledge of state and federal law as applicable to garnishments, employment taxes, employee benefits and /or employment issues.
Must possess the ability to demonstrate leadership, organizational, communication (written and oral) and customer service skills; Proven analytical and mathematical skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects and work with minimal supervision; Demonstrated ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information; Strong computer skills and the ability to create complex spreadsheets and databases.
Knowledgeable of office desktop software products. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field preferred.Experience with Lawson and Kronos systems preferred.Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
